EXPLORING CANADA'S PROVINCES
and TERRITORIES

AN INTRODUCTION

Canada is the second largest country in the world. There are areas of Canada where few people live.

In northern Canada near the Arctic Circle the sea is covered with ice and floating icebergs. Then there are the large areas of frozen land called tundra where very little grows. South of the tundra are rocks, forests, swamps, rivers and lakes.

In Canada's west there are thick forests and high mountain ranges. As you go eastward there are large areas of flat plains and farm land. Then further east the landscape changes to rugged coastline again.

Canada is made up of ten provinces and three territories .
