MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT AND SERVICES

Regina City Hall - picture

A community needs leaders. People who want to be leaders are named or nominated. Then the people of the community vote for (choose) people to help solve problems in their community and to make the laws. Voters go to places called polls to choose their leaders. The voters mark a ballot and pick the mayor and councillors. Those who are elected (have the most votes) make up the government of the community. Together the mayor and councillors (or aldermen) form the city council.
