RANGE
- nesting range is across most of Canada (except the high Arctic)
- winter - migrates to east and west coasts of
North America and as far south as Gulf of Mexico
- spring - returns to northern lakes to nest
HABITAT (HOME)
- freshwater lakes or large ponds (one pair per lake or pond)
- larger lakes have more pairs with a section for each family
- coastal waters for winter
