ALBERTA

ROCKY MOUNTAIN PARADISE

MAP

Alberta lies to the east of the Rockies. It is one of the three prairie provinces. Alberta has a large mountain range called the Rocky Mountains along the western border. As you travel eastward the landscape changes from foothills to grasslands. There are large ranches and many oil wells in Alberta .

Forests and lakes cover the northern half of the province. The Badlands in southern Alberta are where fossils of dinosaurs have been found.

Between Jasper National Park and Banff National Park lie the Columbia Icefields. One cannot resist taking some pictures of the glaciers and many waterfalls.
